Disinfestation of woodworm and disinfection of mildew and bacteria.
Dipinti su tavola, cornici, tessuti, mobili ed altri oggetti possono essere attaccati da insetti xilofagi (tarli e tarme) così come libri, manoscritti e manufatti cartacei possono esserlo da muffe o batteri. Nel caso del legno le disinfestazioni tradizionali ed artigianali non sempre sono risolutive e garantiscono l’eliminazione totale di uova, larve e pupe deposte nelle gallerie rose dal tarlo prima di creare il foro di uscita finale. Ottimi risultati si ottengono invece con la variazione dell’ambiente in cui vivono questi insetti, in particolare, nel nostro caso, sottraendo ossigeno e saturando di gas inerti come l’ anidride carbonica. Siamo in grado di attuare trattamento disinfestante in atmosfera anossica sia con camera ipobarica che con sistema kill box.
Painting panels, frames, tissues, furniture, fittings could be attacked by xylophages insects (moths, larvaes) while books, manuscripts and paper assets by bacteria and mould. Especially for wood, the traditional and craftsmen treatment are not always resolving for total elimination of eggs, larvae and pupae laid in the gallery eroded by the woodworms before created the output hole from wood. Instead we have excellent results with the changing of the environment in which these insects live, by eliminating the oxygen and putting inert gasses like anhydride carbonic. We do treatment on all artworks, that enter in our laboratory, for not contaminating the other artworks already treated. Besides public works of art, the service is available to antique dealers and private individuals in possession of infested valuable goods. We are able to implement disinfesting treatment in an anoxic atmosphere with both hypobaric chamber or kill box system.
CAMERA IPOBARICA
Il trattamento è da noi effettuato in via preventiva su tutti i beni in ingresso al laboratorio per restauro o nel deposito, per non contaminare altre opere presenti già trattate. L’esposizione in camera ipobarica dura complessivamente circa 120/130 ore. L’Area Entomologia del Di.P.S.A. (Dipartimento di Protezione dei Sistemi Agroalimentare) dell’Università degli Studi di Milano ha verificato l’ efficacia dei nostri trattamenti testandoli con una specie xilofaga particolarmente virulenta presente su materiale biologico da loro fornito. E’ stato verificato che già solo dopo 90 ore, otteniamo il 100% di mortalità di uova, larve e adulti. Dopo il trattamento, su richiesta, possiamo rilasciare modello DAT – Dichiarazione di Avvenuto Trattamento, indicando la temperatura e l’umidità ambientale presenti nella camera, i tempi di esposizione effettuati, le caratteristiche compositive del gas impiegato e allegando copia del disco di registrazione del “vuotoregistratore”.
HYPOBARIC CHAMBER
We do treatment of all artworks that enter in our laboratory, for not contaminating the other artworks already treated. The exposition inside the chamber is overall of 120/130 hours. Our treatments are certified by the Entomology Area of DI.P.S.A. (Department of Protection of Agricultural and Food Systems) of University of Milan, after testing with a particularly virulent xylophagous species present on biological material supplied. Only after 90 hours inside of our hypobaric chamber, 100% of eggs, larvae and pupae die. At the end of disinfestation, if you want, we can release a declaration of done treatment , by specifying temperature, humidity, time of exposition, composition of gasses used and give copy of logging disk of treatment.
KILL BOX SYSTEM
Questo sistema è impiegato esclusivamente per lavori con committenza pubblica, come nel caso di manutenzioni straordinarie di raccolte d’arte in cui si evita la movimentazione delle opere. Il trattamento è eseguito “a domicilio”. E’ necessario individuare un ambiente specifico ben separato entro cui posizionare la camera pneumatica sigillata (capiente circa 12 mc.), detta “Kill Box”. I manufatti infestati, inseriti all’ interno del kill box, vi stazionano, esposti ad ambiente saturo di anidride carbonica, dai 18 ai 21 giorni. Il sistema kill box garantisce l’eliminazione totale degli insetti, è di assoluta sicurezza in termini tossicologici ed operativi, silenzioso e non lascia alcun tipo di residuo né cattivi odori. Il vantaggio principale, sebbene di durata più lunga, è quello di non comportare fatica nè costi relativi al trasporto del materiale da trattare.
This system is used only for public clients, especially for extraordinary maintenance of art collections, when it avoids moving artworks. Treatment is performed in house. It is necessary to identify a specific well separated room in which to place the sealed pneumatic chamber (large around 12 mcq.), called “Kill Box”. Infested artworks, placed inside kill box, remain exposed to an environment saturated with carbon dioxide, from 18 to 21 days. Kill box System destroy all insects and moreover, it’s absolutely safe in terms of toxicology and operation, silent and leaves no residue or bad smells. The main and real advantage in using Kill Box System, although of longer duration, is that it does not involve effort or costs related to the transport of of infested artworks.
